Lot 63 - ALEXANDRE FALGUIERE BRONZE OF ARGENTINE SCHOLAR

A cast bronze of Dalmacio Vélez Sársfield (1800-1875) who was an Argentine lawyer and politician who wrote the Argentine Civil Code approved in 1869, the vast majority of which remains in use today. He is depicted holding a copy of the bound book, entitled CODIGO CIVIL DE LA REPUB ARGENTINA on the spine. The square base signed in the bronze on two sides: 1887 A. FALGUIÈRE and FONDU PAR MAURICE DENONVILLIERS. After Alexandre Falguière. Measures 32" (81cm) height by 15" (38cm) width.
