2 - HENRI GAUDIER-BRZESKA PASTEL ON PAPER Henri Gaudier-Brzeska (French,1891-1915) was a French artist and sculptor who developed a rough-hewn, primitive style of direct carving. This drawing was purchased while his exhibition was in London at the Leicester Galleries in October 1962. This is number 26 and titled "Man with a beard" . The piece is a colorful watercolor and pastel painting of a man wearing a hat with a long beard. Marked to top right in pencil. 3 - KAREL APPEL LITHOGRAPH SIGNED & NUMBERED 6/50 Christiaan Karel Appel (April 1921 – May 2006) was a Dutch painter, sculptor, and poet. He started painting at the age of fourteen and studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in the 1940s. He was one of the founders of the avant-garde movement Cobra in 1948.
